How do I maintain a social life when I am sick in bed all the time?

This can take a bit of practice. All of these suggestions depend on the stage of your healing process and pain level that day. I think it always helps to start with your really close friends. Memorize or write down their schedules and text them during lunches, study halls, after school, weekends etc.

Also, don’t forget that devices aren’t just for texting. They also have this thing called a telephone believe it or not! Calling friends on the phone is more personal and can be more uplifting. Also if you you don’t care that they see you looking like crap, I always love Facetime.

If you’re really feeling up to it, invite someone over. You can just lay around and watch movies together. I used to save every ounce of energy I had for the most important things. To me, the most important things were dance and friends. It would mean I absolutely wouldn’t be able to leave the bed for several days after, but it was worth it.

Best of Luck

ATTENTION PARENTS: I am going to tell your Lymie children to use electronics. I apologize.
